blue bird of happiness

well i finished birdie #2. it is an aidan bird, which makes the first baby bird, the rosy one... a ruby bird. these accompanied a birdhouse aidan painted for my mom for her birthday. the birdies are made out of bits and pieces of treasure i have collected over the years - the felt and star are from waldorf days, the the button is from my grandfather's sewing box, the ribbon is from bon bon's warehouse, the embroidery floss goes back to grade school friendship bracelet days! i have now sketched out and schemed up bird characters for most of the family......

NYC not for the haggard

Last night my dear husband and I had a big date in the city
notes:

subway confusing when drunk, subway worker = cranky & aggressive

high pressure = panic = wrong stop = marital duress

cabbie + foriegn = no english = wrong destination = almost miss last train to jersey

last train to jersey = double decker full of chatty teenagers with pink hair and fairy wings seeking more beer......

dj mike = good times, flashdance themesong vastly overlooked and underplayed, a true anthem of joy and triumph ...... a true american hero

reunion with old high school buddy after 16ish years = nice

conclusion= too old to be too drunk and out too late, city trip = costs lots of mulah and energy, both of which i need more of.

"goose goose is disgusting"

"Goose Goose is disgusting and I am not eating it ever," was declared by Aidan William during his lack of lunch (cous cous) this afternoon. Aidan prefers eating nothing, or maybe a half of a plain bagel with nothing. It is getting old. Ruby Frances on the other hand usually eats like a champion, but has taken to spontaneous bouts of gagging and puking during any given meal time, which can last up to an hour. no shit. I believe this is starting to destroy her willingness to eat ....and perhaps my willingness to feed her. Really my children are small, one of my primary jobs is feeding them. Must they already choose to be anorexic and bulemic? I am perplexed and exasperated...... what gives?

Amy's Sweet Birdie

My super friend Amy gave me a very sweet birdie, that was created by an artist named Emily Friday (found on Etsy.com). Thank you Amy and Emily for the inspiration. I think the next crafty artsy direction I am going in is that of a crazy bird lady. My family is full of generations of crazy bird ladies and it is about time I jump on board. The mobile in the picture is by Emily, but the little Ruby bird on the bottom was my latest creation. I am thinking.... mama birds, baby birds, happy blue birds, eggs, nests, mobiles, houses, etc. etc.
